This year we’re hopeful the complete story of Showcase will be inspirational,” she said.PSHA President, Vikki Sung, says the organization had to make the difficult decision and apologized for any inconvenience the delay may cause. “As a non-profit we still want to be able to fulfill our mission to raise money for music and the arts this year and in the future. We thank everyone for the loyalty and on-going support we have received and are looking forward to bringing our supporters a taste of Showcase as we develop a new plan.”PSHA’s main concern is the continued health and well-being of the extended Showcase family which includes guests, designers, trades, volunteers, vendors, members and the communities that host the beautiful design homes. PSHA will continue to diligently monitor the situation and will have new dates and event information by July 31, 2020, under the guidance of city, state and county health and safety mandates.Ticket holders won’t have to wait long to get a sneak peek of the house. Although PSHA assures that all tickets will be honored at the rescheduled home tour, those that have already purchased tickets will also be treated to a special bonus, a Virtual Gala planned for this summer. The special, live event will be a behind-the scenes look at the Showcase house and will offer a tour of the home in progress, interviews with designers, never-before-seen product demonstrations, musical performances and the kick off of an exciting online auction with unique items. Current ticket holders will be extended an invitation to join the event for free and others can purchase tickets at www.pasadenashowcase.org for $25.00 plus a small transaction fee.PSHA worked aggressively to ensure that construction safely continued in the design areas. Over the past two months, PSHA collaborated with the designers and their trades to follow all health and safety mandates, including requiring facial coverings, repeated hand sanitizing, severely reducing the number of and location of workers, and continued site inspection for compliance. “We were a construction site when we were hit by COVID-19, and as the Site Superintendent, I took my responsibility for the health and safety of our workers and volunteers seriously, says Jill Fosselman. “I am so grateful for everyone who chose to work at the site within the health and safety mandates, and so incredibly proud that we all pulled together safely to finish the construction. It’s an amazing family home that’s undergone significant upgrades and modernizations,” she says. “What I love most is that the improvements honor and respect the historic integrity of the home and original architectural vision.”The 2020 Showcase House of Design promises to be a special home tour worth waiting for. The Federal-country style home, designed by “Hollywood Society’s Architect” Gerard R. Colcord, is situated on park-like grounds in leafy north Arcadia. New for this year’s event is a schedule of onsite musical performances and PSHA remains hopeful the Saturday night concerts will continue as planned. To date, PSHA has raised more than $23 million from the Pasadena Showcase House of Design, PSHA’s only fundraiser. Money has gone to support music and art programs throughout Southern California as well as three of the organization’s own music programs, Music MobileTM, Youth Concert and an Instrumental Competition. Each year PSHA awards gifts and grants to a diverse list of local and regional non-profit organizations in support of their efforts in the community. PSHA also underwrites concerts to ensure that the joy of live music is available to a broad range of audiences. Its support of non-profit organizations enriches the community and provides opportunities for a variety of groups, from students to seniors, to learn, enjoy and grow from their experiences in these programs. In addition, PSHA has a longstanding history of supporting the Los Angeles Philharmonic and its community outreach programs. For more information on tickets and updates, please visit the website at www.pasadenashowcase.org.
