Dixie State Men’s Basketball Celebrates Senior Weekend Against Adams State, Fort Lewis

GEORGE, Utah-Friday and Saturday, No. 15 Dixie State (19-4, 14-3 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play) celebrates Senior weekend Friday and Saturday by hosting Adams State (7-16, 5-12 in RMAC play) and Fort Lewis (13-10, 7-10 in RMAC play) at Burns Arena.Trailblazers head coach Jon Judkins (565-258, .687 as a collegiate head coach; 281-130, .684 at Dixie State) is in his 16th season at the helm at St. George and has drawn ever closer to the all-time wins record in Utah college basketball history.Presently, Judkins is only 17 wins from tying University of Utah women’s basketball coaching legend Elaine Elliott (1983-2008) for the distinction. Elliott posted a record of 582-234 (.713) while coaching the Utes.Dixie State ranks 71st nationally in scoring offense (81 points per game).Trailblazers junior forward/center Hunter Schofield leads the squad in scoring (16.1 points per game), rebounding (6.6 boards per game) and blocked shots (12).Senior guard Jack Pagenkopf (13.8 points, 5.9 rebounds per game)  leads Dixie State in assists (138) and steals (45).Also scoring in double figures on-average for the Trailblazers is junior guard Dason Youngblood (10.4 points, 4.2 rebounds per game).Dixie State ranks 94th nationally in scoring defense, surrendering 71.8 points per game.The Grizzlies are coached by 5th-year head coach Russ Caton who is 55-78 (.414) at Alamosa, Colo.Adams State scores 78 points per game, ranking the Grizzlies 114th nationally in scoring offense.Adams State is led by junior guard/forward Kaelin Crane ( a team-best 14.4 points per game), senior guard Juwan Green (14.1 points per game, team-bests in assists [87] and steals [32]), freshman guard Rylan O’brien (12.8 points per game) and senior guard/forward Rickey Norris (12.3 points per game, a team-best 6.6 rebounds per game and a team-best 16 blocked shots).Defensively, Adams State surrenders 84.3 points per game. This ranks the Grizzlies 283rd nationally in scoring defense.The Trailblazers lead the Grizzlies 4-1 all-time.Fort Lewis is coached by 5th year head coach Bob Pietrack, who is 103-44 (.701) at the helm of the Skyhawks’ program.Fort Lewis scores 84.4 points per game, tying the Skyhawks for 29th nationally in scoring offense with Queens (N.C.).Fort Lewis is led by redshirt junior forward Riley Farris who leads the Skyhawks in scoring (24.2 points per game) and rebounding (5.8 boards per game). Farris is also tied with junior forward Will Wittman for the team lead with 20 blocked shots.Also scoring in double figures on-average for the Skyhawks are freshman guard Akuel Kot (12.8 points per game), senior guard Danny Garrick (10.2 points, 5 rebounds per game, a team-best 16 steals) and Wittman (10 points per game).Junior guard Logan Hokanson, a former Desert Hills High School star, leads Fort Lewis with 96 assists.Defensively, the Skyhawks surrender 82.3 points per game, ranking Fort Lewis 267th nationally in scoring defense.The Skyhawks lead the Trailblazers 5-3 all-time, although Dixie state is on a 3-game winning streak in the series.
