In addition, the BHA plans to extend the Appearance Money Scheme from within its existing prize money budget, although this remains subject to approval from the Horserace Betting Levy Board.Richard Wayman, chief operating officer of the BHA, said: “We are aware of the demands that the Fixture List places on our participants.“Repeatedly returning home late from race meetings being followed by early starts the following day is not good for the health and wellbeing of our trainers, staff and jockeys, and ultimately impacts retention rates.“At the same time, as the world changes and betting behaviours alter – in particular the ongoing and ever-increasing switch to digital betting platforms – it is essential that the sport adapts to meet this demand and schedules its fixtures and races accordingly.“We must maximise revenues to the sport and its people by engaging with betting audiences at times when we know they want to bet and have few other sporting options to do so.“It is about striking the right balance and ensuring that the sport generates revenue while not asking too much of our workforce. It is for this reason that the agreed policies will be put in place next year.”Related article: BHA warns government over cutting FOBT stake Subscribe to the iGaming newsletter AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to LinkedInLinkedInShare to FacebookFacebookShare to TwitterTwitter BHA aims to maximise revenues with new strategy Finance Email Address

21st January 2020 | By Daniel O’Boyle Nigeria bans unauthorised foreign lotteries The Nigerian National Lottery Regulatory Commission has prohibited the operation, promotion and sale of tickets of all unapproved foreign lottery games after multiple instances of operators failing to pay players’ winnings. The Commission said that following an increase the non-payment of winnings by these operators, it found six features of the games that it felt justified the ban. These were that the games are foreign to Nigeria, the draws are not conducted in Nigeria, the schedule of these draws is “varied and inconsistent,” the draws are “not conducted in a transparent and credible manner,” the public cannot watch the draws the games are not approved by the government.“The fundamental criteria for the business of lottery are the transparency and credibility of the draw process,” the Commission said. “Where they are absent, the games are compromised and provide opportunities for fraud. This breach of trust is detrimental to the playing public and the reputation of the lottery business.”As well banning the unauthorised foreign lotteries, the Commission said that lottery operators must conduct all draws in-house and allow members of the public to witness the draws.Nigeria’s National Lottery Act 2005 allows for foreign lotteries lotteries from other countries to be available to players in Nigeria. However, this may only occur when the President of Nigeria has authorised the availability of the lottery in Nigeria. Racing New South Wales (NSW) stewards have found professional jockey Adam Hyeronimus, alongside stablehand Blake Paine, guilty of 30 out of 31 illegal betting charges, related to activity which took place between 2016 and 2019.Hyeronimus has been found guilty of two counts of jockey misconduct, having placed bets of $500 on two horses (Limbo Soul and Lucky Meteor) he was to ride in races in which he was competing. He was also found guilty of placing an additional 29 bets on thoroughbred horse racing between 2016 and 2019.Stablehand Blake Paine was found to be implicated in each of the above cases, and stewards were satsified he was guilty of 31 counts of betting with or for a jockey. Charges have been brought forward against both for supplying false evidence to a stewards’ enquiry.Evidence shows that on 22 of the 31 cited occasions, Hyeronimus transferred funds to Paine, who deposited into his Sportsbet account and placed bets on the jockey’s behalf, under his own name.On the other occasions, funds paid from winning bets were used to place additional bets on racing and sport. It was determined that between June 2016 and November 2018, approximately $30,000 was transferred from Hyeronimus to Paine for this purpose.SMS records show several conversations between the two detailing tips for betting on horse races, references to the transfer of funds and requests from Hyeronimus for Paine to place bets on his behalf.Racing NSW rules require that jockeys must not “bet, or have any interest in a bet, or facilitate a bet, on any race” and that, if a jockey or apprentice breaches these rules, a disqualification of not less than two years must be imposed.Similarly, for others in the industry it is required that “a person must not bet with or for a jockey or apprentice jockey, or give or offer a rider any pecuniary or other gift or consideration, contrary to these Australian Rules.”Having found both Paine and Hyeronimus guilty of 30 of the 31 charges, the stewards will now set a date to consider charge 32 (relating to the supply of false evidence to the stewards’ enquiry) and to consider penalties.Hyeronimus will be free to continue riding until a hearing is scheduled next month. When stewards hand down their penalty, he will also have the option to appeal. Topics: Sports betting Horse racing

iGB: Can you tell us a little bit about what PandaScore is? On the second side of AI, it’s more traditional. It’s about how to predict what’s happening. With the mass of data we create, how can you predict who’s going to win? How many points, how many kills, how many objectives, and so on and so forth. Which player is going to perform the best? It’s a lot of machine learning, which is a bit different from AI, but it’s also applying some newer models to these kinds of predictions. On this specific aspect, I think esports and the complexity of esports rely on the amount of data you can generate. It’s much more virtual: there is much more of an economy in the game, there are more items, so many things that compose the game that are very rich. If you’re treating esports with a normal sports approach, it’s going to be very difficult to predict anything properly. It changed the quality and depth of the product that you can build and the kind of content you can create for fans who want to place bets. Email Address The role of AI in esports betting Subscribe to the iGaming newsletter By Kenneth Williams Tags: betting Esports Data Artificial Intelligence The last thing we do with them is provide them with some raw statistics through a widget. It’s basically a webpage that you can integrate into your own website. These statistics help the fans and punters bet. It helps them relate and understand what is happening. This is also increasing engagement from the punters and something we really find valuable, especially in esports. Esports is more data-driven than traditional sports. It’s the DNA of gamers to compete and score points in every game they play. They have a strong relationship with it all the time. iGB: What was PandaScore’s impact on the recently upgraded esportsbook from Pixel.bet? AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to LinkedInLinkedInShare to FacebookFacebookShare to TwitterTwitter Esports Our relationship and involvement with Pixel.bet is on helping them offer the most complete experience possible in sports betting. One of the few things that really stands out is the diversity of bets that we can help Pixel.bet offer to their customers. For League of Legends we would offer around 70, 80 different types of bets ranging from the basic match-winner to how many tricks, how many kills, very specific esports types of bets. At the end of the day, this is what esports fans want, to have something specific to esports and not just very generic match-winner, handicap, things that esports fans might not relate to that much compared to sports markets. iGB: Why is PandaScore’s AI a game-changer for esports betting odds? French startup PandaScore provides real-time AI-powered statistics to media companies, esports teams and bookmakers. iGB caught up with its CEO Flavien Guillocheau to learn more about his esports data collection platform. Flavien Guillocheau: We founded the company [a little over] five years ago. When we started out, I was looking at what existed in traditional sports. It’s more mature nowadays, there are many different activities for fans to engage with esports. Five, six years ago, it was much more difficult for a fan to do anything. For example, if you were trying to place a bet, it was difficult to find a bookmaker. If you were trying to find very basic information like who’s playing tonight or the result of the match yesterday – the basic stuff that, as a fan, you want to engage with – there wasn’t much there. My idea at the time was to help businesses build this kind of basic experience. What we’re doing is providing data on esports matches to different types of businesses. We work with some professional teams, we work with the media, broadcasters and tournament organisers, fantasy, betting and so forth. Our mission is to help any business build whatever kind of experience they want for fans. Topics: Esports esports betting Flavien Guillocheau: Since the early days, it was very difficult to imagine doing data collection manually or with an approach that isn’t scalable or automated. Very early on, we decided to build an automated process to collect data. Six years ago, it was the early days of AI in the more mainstream startup thing. What we do is we use two different parts of AI. First is computer vision, so we analyse video feeds with AI the same way a Tesla car drives and analyses what’s happening on the street. We use the same type of technology, and this allows us to create statistics. As for the impact of AI and how it’s a game-changer, the depth AI can bring in data collection is unique. It can create a huge amount of data very quickly. Coming back to League of Legends, we collect 300 data points in half a second. It’s a lot of data. It’s very quick, very automated and very accurate. That’s the first layer of where AI can help. If you think about it, it can also be applied to traditional sports. Not just to esports, it can be applied to anything. 13th April 2021 | By contenteditor Flavien Guillocheau: A year-and-a-half ago, we decided to launch a product dedicated to bookmakers because we realised that the betting companies couldn’t do much with just data, raw statistics. They don’t have the esports expertise internally; they can’t build the odds themselves. So two years ago, we decided to build our own odds feeds coming from our data that we collect in real-time, after the match, etc., and transforming this data into odds. What we do with Pixel.bet and all of our customers is we provide them the odds feed pretty much live. We provide them on many esports. We cover the big three: League of Legends, CS:GO and Dota 2, plus Rocket League, Overwatch, Call of Duty, so on and so forth. More recently we added Rainbow Six.
